In Hawaii, when words are repeated, they are suppose to mean, " Extra Emphasis"
Hawaiians have their own language with words such as Kahuna, Kuma, Aloha, and Lomi.
Kahuna means a "Wiseman or Shaman"
Kuma means "Teacher"
Aloha means more than just hello and goodbye. It is a word expressing different feelings. Feelings such as love, affection, gratitude, pity, compassion, and the common modern salutation at meeting and parting.
Lomi means to manage light or to create self-respect.
The goal of Lomi is to bring out ALOHA principles. Those principles include feelings of Peace, Tranquility, Love, Kindness, Compassion, Gratitude, Humility and much more.
Lomi lomi is a Hawaiian massage. It is considered Energy Bodywork using touch communication. Hawaiians use song and dance as communication and storytelling. In Ancient Hawaiian Times, Hawaiian Religion and Science/Health matters were ONE. Therefore, Lomi-lomi is Hawaiian Healing Art.
Lomi lomi uses long and luxurious strokes that will shift the body's negative chaos to positive feelings for healing.
Before your session begins, you are welcomed with a silk lei necklace to give you a true Hawaiian welcome. You may also be asked to choose a drink option.
Lomi is performed on a table like traditional massages. We use Kukui Nut oil. It is a natural moisturizer that has been used in Hawaii for centuries. Strokes used during the session, are anatomical points as well as take on a Spiritual existence. The therapist uses their forearms for long flowing strokes to enhance a deep relaxation and a sensation of being at peace. The pressure is light, similar to Swedish. It is not suppose to be deeper.
When the therapist has finished the massage, the client will have the opportunity to take a warm shower to remove the excess oil.
