Cooler weather is now upon us, as we enjoy this beautiful autumn chill. For most, the cool air feels amazing. However, for others….. its an adjustment as they get ready for COLD winter.  So if you are looking for ways to warm up or to adjust from hot to cool weather…. think Bamboo Massage.

What is a Bamboo Massage? Where did it come from? What are some of the benefits of a bamboo massage? Well, I will do my best to answer those questions.

Did you know that there are over 1,000 different bamboo species? The sizes range from small to large in diameter. They also go from hollow to solid. Bamboo shares qualities with wood which include being strong, durable and even antimicrobial. As for massaging with bamboo, we use solid bamboo in assorted diameters and lengths.

So where did Bamboo massage come from? Bamboo Massage (Bamboo-Fusion) was founded by Nathalie Cecilla. She is a Licensed Massage Therapist based in Florida.

Bamboo massage is very versatile form of massage. The bamboo sticks are heated  which allows the heat to penetrate deeper within the muscle fibers. During the session, the bamboo can be used in lighter strokes similar to Swedish as well as can range to deeper pressure for those trigger points, higher tension areas. Bamboo massage is perfect for those who want a relaxing massage yet may have more tension that needs to be worked out as well. The heat is similar to Hot Stone, however, in a hot stone massage session, the therapist has a harder time getting deep pressure due to the oil being used. That is where bamboo becomes more versatile. It is a great combination of Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, and Relaxing all in one.

There are several benefits for the client when receiving a bamboo massage. Similar to many other forms of massage, there are physical, mental, and emotions benefits. Some of those benefits include: reactivating and stimulating blood circulation,  improvement of sleep quality. It also improves nervous system functions and sensory nerve perception, relieving muscular pain.

So if you have yet to try a bamboo massage, what are you waiting for?
